It looks like Nina Dobrev is officially back in the dating game. The 37-year-old actress has been photographed looking cosy with Australian model Dougie Joseph, marking her very first public romance since her highly publicised split from ex-fiancé Shaun White in September 2025. 

Rumours that Dobrev and Joseph were an item first began in mid-June, when Deuxmoi spotted the actress with a “mystery man” in New York City where they were engulfed in the Knicks championship parade. Dobrev has been fending off speculation she was dating Zac Efron following photos of the pair holidaying on yacht in Italy. She confirmed they were “just friends” in an interview with TMZ in October when a reporter asked her point blank whether they were “just mates” to which she gave a nod and a “yeah” in response. But she’s officially more than mates with this tall, dark and handsome Australian model and after inspecting the evidence, we’re frankly quite envious.

In the photos shared by Deuxmoi the reported couple were arm-in-arm in New York. In paparazzi photos, Dobrev was wearing a navy slip dress with a matching baseball cap, and Joseph was sporting bootcut denim and a perfectly cut white t-shirt that showed off his arms. In a few shots, he gave Dobrev a kiss on the cheek, which is sufficient evidence for us to answer the “are they or aren’t they” question. But who is this tall glass of water? Below, we investigate.

Joseph is a New York-based creative and model who co-founded the men’s skincare brand Bondi Skin Co in 2020. He’s appeared in major campaigns for R.M. Williams, and frequently collaborates with high-end brands including Emporio Armani and Sandro Paris.

On social media, he mainly posts style, wellness, and workout content, as well as shirtless photos. He’s already caught the eye of a few other high-profile women. Fellow Australian model Georgia Fowler commented “Damn dude” on a recent shirtless gym post from April — and we echo her sentiments. Dobrev’s hardcore fandom are approving of the match, one commenting on the very same post: “Please don’t break her heart. We want to see her happy and with someone great! Be the great guy she deserves @nina good choice! Finally someone tall and hot.” When he isn’t in New York, the model visits Australia on a semi-frequent basis, posting from Bondi Beach. But he seems to be a rural guy at heart, frequently sharing photos of frolicking with a dog on what looks like a family farm (according to one post, his mum has banned him from riding a quad bike — we thank her for taking care of this beautiful man).

This public romance marks a major new chapter for Dobrev following the end of her five-year relationship with 39-year-old Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. Last September, People confirmed the couple had called off their engagement, just 10 months after White popped the question with a very OTT proposal. “It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” a source close to the pair said at the time. Multiple sources later shared that Dobrev wanted to get married and start a family, but White was not quite on the same page.
