Why Do I Suddenly Want To Dress Like Saoirse Ronan?

We love it when good things happen to good people, and for celebrities, that “good thing” can be a new stylist. Such is the case with Saoirse Ronan, who has recently gone from moderately chic girl about town to devastating fashion angel.

We’re long-time fans of Ronan’s cinematic oeuvre. We loved her in Lady Bird, we cheered her on in Little Women, and we’ve been absolutely enchanted by her recent acerbic turn on The Graham Norton Show (Paul Mescal is shaking). But, while she’s been walking the red carpet since age 13 Ronan’s personal style has never stood out in our mind. She walked her first red carpet at age 13, nominated for her role in Atonement. Since then, Ronan’s typically favoured pastel shades of baby blue, florals, and sweeping shift dresses. But recently, there’s been a change, and that change has come with a new stylist.

Recently, a TikTok user named Hannah Zook posted, pointing out that Ronan has undergone a dramatic evolution. She pointed out that Ronan has historically worn fairly loose-fitting dresses in pastel shades that weren’t working for her as hard as they could.

While we don’t feel quite as passionate about how bad these fits were (Zook is cherry-picking), her recent getups have been a bold departure. And, we have stylist Danielle Goldberg, the brains behind Ayo Edebiri, Olivia Rodrigo and Laura Harrier’s red carpet moments, to thank for Ronan’s makeover.

She’s taken a hard pivot, replacing Ronan’s wardrobe of florals, pastels, and floaty gowns with bright block colours and fitted looks. Anyone who’s ever rolled their eyes at “knowing their season” will eat their words when looking at the contrast between Ronan in Baby Blue and Ronan in Azure JW Anderson.

We’re loving it, and while we’re not attributing her new look entirely to her penchant for shutting down fellow male guests on popular TV shows, we feel they must be helping.
