It’s not every day you have a fragrance named after you, let alone get a hand in creating it. But for Sage Mellet, both opportunities came together with Sage’s Rose, the scent she helped craft for her brother Troye Sivan’s label, Tsu Lange Yor.
Lending both her name and her vision as guest creative director, Rose put her own spin on a classic floral, blending rose with notes of sugar, myrrh and vetiver for something a little sweeter, moodier and more complex than your typical rose perfume.
And while Sage’s Rose has established itself as one of the label’s most intriguing scents, there’s plenty more to celebrate in the world of Tsu Lange Yor. Most recently, the festivities took Sage Rose to New York, where the Tsu Lange Yor transformed Portuguese restaurant Tashca in Nolita into a scent-filled destination, complete with rose lattes by day and Sage’s Rose martinis by night.
Naturally, a pop-up launch party was also in order, and Sageybabey made sure we didn’t miss a thing. From her getting-ready rituals to reuniting with the Tsu Lange Yor team, she takes ELLE along for the occasion, one timestamp at a time.
Sage Mellet’s New York Diary:
3pm: Arrived at my manager’s hotel room. First step: shower, full-body moisturise, robe on — the real glam prep starts way before hair and makeup lol
3:30pm: Laying out the dress + jewelry on the bed. Wearing a beautiful black sheer gown from Meshki, and jewellery from Pandora.
4:30pm: Hair and makeup done, dress is on — we are SO ready to go
5:30pm: Car’s ordered, en route to Tashca NYC — the gorgeous portuguese spot in nolita hosting the launch party and the pop up
6pm: Arrived at the event—time to get content before guests show up hehe
6:15pm: Reunited with the TLY team!! So many of them literally flew in from Australia that same day, so getting to see everyone again was so special
6:30pm: Had to spritz sage’s rose all over me (and the room, obviously) so everywhere smells divineeee
7pm: Troye’s here!! Grabbed a martini and the celebrating officially began
8pm: Met so many wonderful new people and made new friends tonight. Ellie runs Ellie For The Girls—always has the best nyc recs, so having her there was everything
9pm: danced the night away with many, many sage’s rose martinis
