Following the frenzy surrounding hits like Off Campus and The Summer I Turned Pretty, this new series from Prime Video — created by writer-director Megan Park alongside executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (the minds behind millennial teen classics like The O.C. and Gossip Girl) —is all over our FYP. Co-produced by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, the series balances highly aestheticised melodrama (an essential YA ingredient) with an emotional depth and grittier script that sets it apart from typical teen romances.
Creator Megan Park, who entered the entertainment industry playing teenagers on series like The Secret Life of the American Teenager, said that she wanted to create a YA show with real depth. “It was the idea of these two young women, both having the same mom through a really roundabout, crazy story, and sort of this Parent Trap element of them being so different,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “Are they gonna figure it out? And are they gonna figure out who their mom really was, and nature versus nurture, and grief, and all those kinds of themes?”
Themes of grief, dark family secrets and found sisterhood have given the show a broader appeal than the typical YA romance-loving audience. So far its receiving critical praise from publications like Vulture and The Guardian, as well as its fair share of TikTok fan-edits.

What Happened At The End Of Sterling Point Season 1?
The season finale delivers a series of twists that leave nearly every character at a crossroads.
Park described the climax as having a distinctly “Parent Trap-esque” ending, with Annie opting to remain behind in Sterling Point alongside Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie), while Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle) sets off for New York City to step into her sister’s former life. Park, at least, is completely on board for a second season.
Beneath the geographical swap lies a web of family secrets. Ramona finally discovers that Steven (Jay Duplass)—not Joe (Jeffrey Dean Morgan)—is her real biological father, confirming that she, Annie, and Connor (Keen Ruffalo) are full biological siblings. To make matters even more complicated, Connor receives a bombshell phone call from an adoption agency revealing that their birth mother wants to make contact. By the time the credits roll, Connor hasn’t yet found the courage to share this revelation with Annie. Meanwhile, Ramona and Oona (Bo Bragason) call time on their romance as Ramona heads off to Manhattan to connect with her newly expanded family.
Will There Be A Second Season Of Sterling Point?
While Prime Video has yet to officially confirm a second season, Park says she’s certainly hoping for one, noting that Season 1 did a lot of heavy lifting establishing the world of Sterling Point and its characters. “Season 1, you do spend a lot of time setting up the world, and then I do almost feel like if you get a season 2, it’s when you relax and go deeper,” the series creator told EW.
Given that the series only arrived on August 5 and has already generated massive attention, an official renewal feels almost inevitable.
What Could Happen In Sterling Point Season 2?
Park pointed out that Ramona and Annie would essentially be switching lives in Season 2: Ramona navigating the social pressures of Manhattan while Annie adapts to small-town island life. If there’s one thing teen-drama audiences love, it’s a great fish-out-of-water plotline.
There is also the impending shadow of Ramona’s 18th birthday. Entering adulthood means she reaches the legal age of independence, allowing her to make key decisions regarding property and her inheritance rights on the island—an element bound to spark friction among the older generation.
In true Gossip Girl fashion, Park wants to ensure parental secrets continue to mirror the teenage drama. “There’s a lot of mommy and daddy issues being threaded throughout the show,” she told EW. Park noted a particular interest in exploring the mysterious backstory of Oona’s mother, teasing that bringing her character to life on screen would unlock a whole new layer of the town’s hidden past. Between Oona’s missing mother, Connor deciding when to tell Annie about their birth mother, and Steven’s lingering connection to the family, these parental issues thread through every layer of the story.
Will There Be A Season 2 Of Sterling Point?
While Prime Video has yet to set an official release date, the platform is known for maintaining a reliable 12-to-14-month turnaround for its marquee YA properties. When The Summer I Turned Pretty debuted in June 2022, its second chapter followed close on its heels in July 2023 (Amazon actually confirmed a second season before the first season hit small screens on June 8). Given Sterling Point’s instant success, if Prime Video hands down a renewal in the coming weeks, viewers can comfortably expect Season 2 to land on small screens in Late Summer 2027.
