Forget the micro-mini. Bella Hadid just made a compelling case for the ’70s shift, stepping out in New York in a burnt-orange dress from the brand Oddli that feels pulled straight from Jane Fonda’s archive. The silhouette of the (sadly sold out) A-lini mini is decidedly retro, featuring a high boat neckline, cropped sleeves, and a slightly flared skirt with two delicate buttons at the collar. Its the kind of effortless, unfussy piece that brings to mind It-girls of the 70s like Fonda and Anita Pallenberg with touches that keep the ensemble firmly in 2026.

Rather than leaning too costumey, Hadid’s stylist Mimi Cuttrell layered the dress beneath a vintage tan corduroy trench coat grounded with vintage Sergio Rossi boots (apparently sourced by Loved By Chi) and Side Eye’s oversized Madison Ave sunglasses. Just like a 70s jet-set starlet Hadid carried an oversized bag, although this was the Staud Maud carryall.

The bandana has been trending for some time and Hadid proved we’ll be wearing the style well into next year. She finished the look with a sweet red gingham Oddli scarf (also, sadly, sold out) and a pair of gold hoops with layered gold necklaces that gave a distinctly European off-duty film-star quality.

It’s also a masterclass in transitional dressing. The warm combination of rust, camel and chocolate brown feels made for autumn, while the mini hemline and three-quarter sleeves stop all those layers swallowing her whole. There is a reason the seventies remain one of fashion’s most enduring references. While we may dip in and out of Y2K aesthetics the flirty ease of Chemena Kamali’s Chloé and Alessandro Michele’s Valentino speak to our deeper craving for seventies-era analogue coolness and there’s no better time to step into it than spring. So, find yourself a “little orange dress” (LOD) and make like a Hadid.
