Young Hearts Run Free At Electrifying CHANEL Coco Mademoiselle Party In Paris

CHANEL took over 19^th century theatre and concert hall, Le Trianon, in Paris on September 17 to celebrate its latest fragrance Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu. Campaign star and House ambassador Gracie Abrams was the belle of the 750-strong ballroom, which also included Indian model Bhavitha Mandava, Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle, Canadian filmmaker and photographer Petra Collins, French-British singer and actress Lou Doillon, American-Chilean actor Lux Pascal—and a cast of incredibly talented dancers.

The multi-levelled venue had been transformed into a spirited Parisian café with plush rouge-red velvet sofas and tiny gold lamps glowing atop stacks of The Crush Absolu newspaper. (Throughout the week, CHANEL had taken over multiple bistrots in the city where they hosted guests. Iconic Pakistani newspaper hawker Ali Akbar, who began selling newspapers in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in 1973 and is known as the last paper boy in France, delivered The Crush Absolu tableside to those attending the party.) Back at Le Trianon, magicians weaved comically between tables, eliciting audible gasps in their wake, while tarot readers offered glimpses into the future and tattoo artists sponged on flashes of non-permanent ink. On stage, French composer and pianist Christophe Chassol performed alongside a beautiful vocalist and an animated flutist, adding to the vibrant, magnetic energy of the evening.

Just after nine, the maître d’hotel addressed the room. “Listen closely, can you hear it?” he announced. “We’re about to open the doors to lead you to a night to remember.”

The ballroom opened, and for a moment, the scene inside was almost impossible to decipher beneath a wash of bright, dizzying light. Guests, with martinis and mini monsieur croquettes in hand, followed the familiar sound of Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free”, the soundtrack to the Crush Absolu campaign. Then, almost as if emerging from the haze, 30 dancers came into view—each as captivating as the next—moving energetically under the direction of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the choreographer behind the campaign film.

Next came Honey Dijon, a friend of the House, who took to the decks for an electric back-to-back set with French DJ Chloé Caillet. The night reached its final crescendo with American producer Alissia, a close collaborator of Anderson .Paak, who brought the room to a euphoric close with a set of funk and electro-soul—just as a shower of gold confetti descended from the ceiling. Somehow the party had taken on the pulse of the city. This was Paris at its best, and guests at their happiest.

A night to remember, indeed.
